As a cadet you’ll fly and (weather permitting) glide, learn fieldcraft and first aid, try target shooting, take part in expeditions and camps, and develop leadership through practical challenges. You’ll build skills, confidence and friends for life.

RAFAC is sponsored by the Royal Air Force but run by volunteers—open to all, with training that scales from first steps to nationally recognised awards.

Who can join?
Young people from Year 8 (12+) up to 17 can join as cadets; adults 20+ can volunteer as staff. Parade nights are typically two evenings per week, plus weekend activities.

How old do I need to be to join?
You need to be in Year 8 (age ~12) up to 17 for cadets. Adults 20+ can apply to be a volunteer staff member or Civilian Committee Member.
Is it expensive?
There’s a small monthly subscription of £13; many activities are subsidised & We keep costs as low as possible.
When are parade nights?
We parade two evenings each week on Tuesday and Thursday 19:00-21:30, plus optional weekend activities and camps.
Do I need a uniform?
Uniform is issued after you’ve started—just come along smartly dressed to begin with. There will be some items of the uniform you’ll need to source yourself- but help is available.
